OFFICE 339
BOTTEGA VENETA – Milan
The new headquarters of the fashion brand Bottega Veneta is occupying the former Manzoni Theatre on Piazza San Fedele near Milan’s Duomo and La Scala. The 19th century heritage-listed building has undergone several iterations, first as a theatre, then as a bank. For its latest iteration, the aim was to give the building a new life, honouring its unique history, while adapting it to contemporary technological and sustainability standards. The program combines fashion showrooms and offices with a public space to make a vibrant cultural hub. Spaces that formerly constituted the theatre foyer and underground vault rooms have been transformed into a generous showroom spanning over three floors. This is centred around a large atrium, which also serves as the building’s cultural and performance space. The project approaches the existing building as an assemblage of distinct spaces: a long and narrow strip facing the square, a circular area in the back, two technical cores and a lounge room overlooking the Duomo.
