HOUSING COMPLEX – Brussels
A deep lot in Jette municipality in Brussels combines two housing typologies: an apartment block facing the street and a double row of two-storey apartments overlooking the inner courtyard. The volumes are unified by a single architectural gesture – a colonnade of round and square columns in polished concrete, which spans the depth of the lot and reveals the otherwise hidden courtyard garden. The resulting double-height gallery structure frames the courtyard and provides private outdoor spaces for houses via recessed facades in green-painted timber. The colonnade frame penetrates the front facade, where the cladding of polished concrete panels is punctuated by precisely proportioned windows.
