WALL PAVILLION – Shenzhen
The pavilion for the 2012 Shenzhen Biennale is conceived as a panorama room for presenting Brick Wall – Bas Princen’s photographs of the massive defensive walls of the Dendera temple complex. As a demonstration of the ambiguity implicit in architecture, the wall supporting the scene is made of a single layer of bricks, stiffened by its cylindrical form. The argument over the conceptual distinction between the fictional and the real is resolved in the perimeter itself.
