TOWER PAVILION – Antwerp
The winning proposal for a temporary information pavilion in Antwerp’s Rooseveltplaats is a 22m tower constructed of steel sheet piling, a material normally used for earth and water retention. The plan is defined by a chord-shaped core and by terraces set behind irregular torch-cut openings in the facade. In addition to providing information about future phases in the redevelopment of the site, the tower offers visitors views of the changing city from its terraces, roof deck and a square belvedere platform at its centre.
