OFFICE 176
MEDIA HOUSE (RTS) – Lausanne
The new Lausanne headquarters of Swiss Radio and Television (RTS) will bring together different media, as well as fields of education and research. Four separate boxes of varying proportions support a disc-like volume suspended 8 meters above ground. On the ground, a glass wall connects the supporting volumes to create a transparent foyer surrounded by covered terraces, all open to the public. The boxes themselves offer the hardware for production, mainly multimedia studios with their control rooms and editing suites, as well as conferencing spaces and various other technical and educational facilites. The suspended horizontal field for editorial activity provides for virtually endless interconnectivity and flexibility over 6000 m2.
