OFFICE 203
INTERIORS – Kortrijk
OFFICE, in collaboration with Richard Venlet and Joris Kritis, were appointed curators of the 25th edition of the international design exhibition Biennale Interieur, held at the Trade Fair Complex in Kortrijk. Themed Silver Lining – Interiors, the scenography considered the furniture and objects on display not as isolated items but as an integral part of our ‘inhabited’ space. The 30,000m2 exhibition area was parcelled into separate commercial stands by the 5.7m × 5.7m structural grid of the complex. Six main routes, marked by a silver veil hanging from the ceiling, crisscrossed the entire space. Along these routes were six semi-transparent boxes made of perforated metal that escaped the commercial logic of the surrounding displays. Each box was the work of different international designers: OFFICE curated the interior of one of them, together with Venlet, Pieter Vermeersch and Muller Van Severen. The ‘Solo Interior’ featured a 1:1 mock-up of a fragment of the Solo House, which served as a podium for various scattered pieces of furniture.
