CHURCH – Hatlehol

Hatlehol Church was to be erected in a secluded landscape of Norwegian fjords. Its external appearance as a white box gives no clue as to its domed interior. The intersection of these forms results in four high arched openings which elevate the volume of the church above the rocky terrain. All the other areas are sited in the residual space above the dome and below the flat roof. Several pierced windows on the façades are positioned accordingly. The dome has an open oculus, accessible from the viewing platform on the roof, where a number of religious elements balance the composition.
