TONDO ERRERA – Brussels
This set of furniture pieces was designed, in collaboration with Richard Venlet, for Hôtel Errera, an eighteenth century mansion in Brussels, which now serves as a residence of the Flemish Prime Minister. The set includes meeting tables, a press conference desk, a post for reading tablets and a coat-rack. Appropriating the idea of a tondo, a Renaissance term for a circular work of art that can fit anywhere, all the pieces are abstract transformable cylinders. While their gold-plated surface corresponds to the building’s lavishly decorated classicist interiors, the inside reveals their technical structure.
